Searching for promo codes or tracking price changes can be difficult, especially during the holiday shopping season. And while you've probably considered downloading a browser extension or two, Google is rolling out new holiday shopping tools inside Chrome and Search to make things easier than ever.
Instead of downloading a shady third-party browser extension, you can track price changes, get alerts, or even find coupon codes inside Google Chrome. Now, you'll find a dedicated page for deals inside Google Search, along with powerful new tools like the upgraded "Shopping Insights" label on the Chrome address bar for desktop. Google Chrome already had a price drop tracking feature, but it seems like the browser is going all-in on shopping for the holiday season.
Once enabled, when users open the shopping insights label, they'll see tons of helpful information. This includes a price history graph going back 90 days, a notification if the price is within its typical range or discounted, and an optional toggle to get price alert emails straight from Google Search. Furthermore, users can save different shopping lists, making everything easy and organized.
To get started, simply type "shop deals" into Google Search, and you'll see a new carousel full of holiday shopping essentials. According to Google, this new section includes popular items from previous years from all your favorite merchants, big box retailers, DTC brands, luxury goods, designer labels, local stores, and more.
Then, similarly to the previous Chrome landing page, you'll spot new boxes to "resume browsing" to help shoppers pick up where they left off. You can scroll through deals, save items to a shopping list, and get email alerts when the price drops. All of this is built right into Search and Chrome to help users save money.
Additionally, Chrome will actively search for and find the best deals, discounts, and coupon codes while you're shopping. Look for the new "deals" tag icon on the right side of Chrome's address bar, and it'll pop up with any potential savings.
