One day after Apple announced its iPhone 15 launch event, Google decided to do the same. The search giant is officially sending out invites where it'll unveil the new Google Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, likely a Pixel Watch 2, and more at an event on October 4th, 2023.

We've been seeing and hearing leaks about Google's next phone for months, including the odd new temperature sensor on the back that leaked way back in March. Either way, we'll finally know everything for sure when the event starts at 10 AM ET in New York City. The event taking place in October shouldn't surprise anyone, and we had a feeling these invites were on the way soon.

This follows roughly the same timeline as last year's launch, where we got the new Pixel 7. And while Google hasn't specifically said what'll get announced on October 4th, at this point, it's pretty clear. The invite does mention Google's "portfolio of devices," so expect more than just Pixel phones. Following the invites going out, Google shared a weird post on Twitter (I mean X) poking fun at the iPhone. This confirms the Pixel 8 Pro will be the star of the show.

The new Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will likely be quite similar to the Pixel 7 from last year. We expect the same overall design with a few refinements, leaks suggest flat screens, and the bigger Pixel 8 Pro has a few new sensors on the back. The software is a big part of each Pixel release, so look for more AI, camera tricks, and several advanced features like the audio magic eraser that leaked earlier this summer.

As for the Pixel Watch 2, it hasn't leaked as much, but it'll likely arrive with several notable upgrades. There's a good chance we'll see updates to its Nest and Fitbit line, or Google could focus on the Pixel series. So, stay tuned as the wait is almost over.
